EXERGY has successfully started up this week an NCG Expander unit supplied for a 25 MWe geothermal power plant.
Designed and developed by Exergy and based on the unique Radial Outflow technology, the NCG Expander unit aims at increasing power generation and profitability of geothermal binary plants by exploiting non-condensable gases downstream the ORC plant and converting them into additional energy by means of an expander.
Installed in record time, with one day commissioning and a single test, thanks to a simple “plug-and-play” configuration and an accurate pre-commissioning activity carried on in Exergy workshop, the NGC Expander unit has proven all its flexibility and easy installation and high performance in operation overcoming the target of 1 MWe and generating up to 1.3 MWe. For a 25 MWe plant this means up to 5% increase in the plant power capacity.
