PONCHARRA WASTE HEAT RECOVERY UNIT SUCCESSFULLY IN OPERATION

EXERGY’s Waste Heat Recovery ORC unit in Pontcharra (France) has reached six months of operation. Installed for the client SIbrecsa, the ORC system recovers the heat of the exhaust gases from a waste incinerator producing 700 kWe of clean power. This additional clean energy will help the client increase the energy efficiency of the waste treatment plant that has a waste management capacity of 19.000 tons per year. The solution provided by EXERGY is an ORC cycle composed of a WHR unit using water in the intermediate loop, to transfer the heat to the ORC cycle, single pass heat exchanger, turbine and recuperator. The condensing system selected is a roof top air cooler shown below.
